What you should know
Anonymous treatment is not a separate method but a condition under which care is provided: the patient receives the full scope of addiction care, but their data are not entered into the registry for state addiction monitoring. Under the law of the Republic of Kazakhstan, anonymous addiction care is provided on a paid basis. Information about the fact that you sought help, your diagnosis, and your treatment is protected by medical confidentiality and is not shared with your employer, school, or relatives without your consent.
At Narcology 24, anonymity is ensured at every stage: during the phone call, on a home visit, in the hospital, and during online follow-up support. Doctors arrive in an unmarked car without medical insignia, and paperwork is completed under a pseudonymous identifier. Anonymous treatment in Rudny at Narcology 24 is available for alcohol, opioid, stimulant, and other types of addiction, as well as for addiction combined with mental disorders, when an addiction specialist and a psychiatrist need to work together.
Who Anonymous Treatment Is Right For
- working people for whom confidentiality from their employer and colleagues is important
- those worried that being placed on the registry could affect their driver’s license or permits
- people who have been treated before, relapsed, and want to start again without anyone knowing
- patients with dependence on alcohol, opioids, stimulants, cannabinoids, or prescription drugs
- people with addiction combined with depression, anxiety, or other mental disorders
- families who want to help a loved one without attracting the attention of neighbors and acquaintances
- those who need help at home without traveling to a medical facility
If two or three points apply, it is worth seeing a doctor. Phone advice is free and confidential. If life is at risk, call 103 or 112.
What Anonymity Means Under Kazakhstan Law
The Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Public Health and the Healthcare System” classifies as medical confidentiality the fact that a person sought medical care, as well as information about their health, diagnosis, and other data obtained during examination and treatment. Healthcare workers are obliged to keep it. Paid anonymous treatment means that the patient is not placed on the state addiction monitoring list (the dispensary registry), and their data are not passed on to the state registry of people with addiction.
In simple terms: only the patient and the treatment team know about the treatment. Exceptions to medical confidentiality are set out in law — for example, a request from inquiry or investigative authorities or a court in connection with a case, or a threat of infectious disease spreading. At the same time, anonymity does not exempt anyone from liability for offenses and does not give the right to receive official certificates without identity verification.
How Anonymous Treatment Works: Stages and Timelines
Stages: 1) an anonymous consultation online or in person — assessment of the condition and choice of format; 2) detox — IV drips at home or in the hospital, 3–10 days depending on the substance; 3) treatment of withdrawal and post-acute withdrawal symptoms — sleep, anxiety, and mood; 4) relapse prevention therapy and psychotherapy, 3–6 weeks; 5) follow-up support — regular meetings online or at the clinic for up to 12 months. Written informed consent is required at every stage.
Treatment at home is not provided if there is a risk or signs of alcohol withdrawal delirium, a history of seizures, serious heart or liver disease, pregnancy, dependence on several substances with severe withdrawal, psychotic symptoms, or suicidal thoughts. In these cases, inpatient care is recommended. If there is loss of consciousness, seizures, stopped breathing, or a suspected overdose, call 103 or 112 immediately.
How we help
Detox
The goal is to safely bring the person out of intoxication and withdrawal. Detox IV solutions, B vitamins, liver-protecting agents, and medications to normalize sleep and reduce anxiety are used. Benzodiazepines and other strictly controlled drugs are used only as prescribed by a doctor and under supervision. Detox is the beginning of treatment, not its end.
Relapse prevention medication
After detox, if indicated, medications are prescribed that reduce craving or block the effect of the substance — for example, opioid receptor antagonists. The choice of drug group depends on the type of addiction, co-occurring illnesses, and the patient’s preferences. Alcohol “coding” (a treatment widely used in Kazakhstan and CIS countries) and blockades are performed only after testing, the required period of sobriety, and written consent.
Psychotherapy
Cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and group sessions are included in WHO and NICE recommendations as the foundation of addiction treatment. A psychotherapist helps the person recognize triggers, cope with cravings, and build a life without the substance. A psychotherapist and a psychologist do not prescribe medications — that is the doctor’s role.
Rehab and follow-up support
After the main course, it is important to consolidate the results. Follow-up support includes regular meetings with a doctor and a psychotherapist, work with the family, and a rehab program if needed. The highest risk of relapse falls in the first months of sobriety, which is why follow-up support is recommended for up to a year.
Myths and facts
MythAnonymous treatment is worse than regular treatment
FactThe scope and methods of care are the same: anonymity concerns only how data are recorded. The same clinical protocols and groups of medications are used as with a regular visit. The difference is the absence of registry monitoring and the fact that care is paid.
MythYou can only be treated anonymously for alcohol
FactAnonymous care is provided for all types of addiction: alcohol, opioids, stimulants, cannabinoids, sleeping pills, and sedatives. The treatment approach differs, but the confidentiality conditions are the same.
MythIf you were treated anonymously, it will still come out somewhere
FactInformation about anonymous treatment is not passed on to the state registry, and medical staff are legally liable for disclosing confidential medical information. Disclosure is possible only in cases expressly provided for by law.

Questions and answers
Do I need a passport for anonymous treatment?
No. To receive treatment, it is enough to give a first name or a pseudonymous identifier. Documents will be needed only if the patient wants to receive official medical records with personal details — for example, a discharge summary for another facility.
Will my employer find out about the treatment?
No. The clinic does not share patient information with employers. If you need an official sick note, that paperwork requires identity verification — this is discussed with the doctor in advance so the patient can choose the right option.
Can I receive anonymous treatment in a hospital?
Yes. Inpatient treatment is also anonymous: the patient is admitted under a pseudonym, and visits and calls are arranged only with their agreement. Inpatient care is recommended when there is a high risk of withdrawal complications and when treatment at home has not worked.
How long does anonymous treatment take?
The length of anonymous treatment in Rudny depends on the type of addiction and its severity. Detox at home or in a hospital in Rudny takes 3–10 days, the main course of psychotherapy and relapse prevention therapy takes 3–6 weeks, and follow-up support continues for up to 12 months. The doctor draws up a specific plan after the consultation and testing.
Can a person be treated anonymously without their consent?
No. Any medical intervention requires voluntary informed consent. Involuntary treatment is possible only by court decision in the manner established by the law of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The clinic does not take patients by force, but it helps the family motivate the person.
What if an ambulance is needed during anonymous treatment?
The clinic’s doctors provide emergency care on the spot and, if necessary, call an ambulance crew via 103 or arrange a transfer to a specialized hospital. In such a situation, saving a life takes priority over anonymity, but the information shared is limited to what is medically necessary.
Where do doctors visit in Rudny and where are the branches?
